Reflection #8

According to the Article, the "sticky floor" is when women are "stuck" to a domestic life because of the endless chores they have to do. Women are automatically forced into the position of the traditional caregiver, which is hard if they have a job because they must balance their work life and home life and be excellent at both.

I feel that if the United Kingdom bans commercials that include gender stereotypes, they rest of the world will follow them and also ban these types of commercials, eventually eliminating all gender stereotypes in the world.

In order to eliminate sexism anywhere, people must stop judging women on their capabilities in the workplaces, no matter what it is. Men and Women should be held to the same standards, in all circumstances. Men and Women should also be paid equal for doing the same thing. Also, both Men and Women should be able to take time off if they just had a baby, not just the mother.

  1. I agree that's is a very good solution to eliminate sexism. It usually takes two people to create a baby even if the women does the harder part of the job and that just like the women the man should have just the same opportunity to bond and care for his child.

  2. I agree with your reflection as well. Men and women should have the same amount of chores, and should both have a more 50/50 contribution to care for the child. This also should be in effect for men and women in the workplace, and there should be no glass ceiling for both genders. Also, race shouldn't make a difference either.

  3. I agree the whole will follow the U.K once they set things into motion. It only takes one country or person.
